Month of the Goat

We attended church on Sunday am and then headed to the horse track. It was actually Family Day at Louisiana Downs. We ate lunch and placed a few bets while we dined. Jack enjoyed cheering for the horses. Afterwards we went to the little fair they had ... there was a Ferris wheel and a petting zoo (with goats again).

Start of Summer --- Memorial Day Weekend

Summer is here! Jack put out the flag today in honor of Memorial Day weekend ... he can even recite the Pledge of Allegiance. I was impressed he knew it so well.

To celebrate his milestone of continuing to poop on the potty ... we took Jack to Party Central. Jack loved the big slide outside and Dad was a kid again in the batting cage.

Last Day in San Antonio

We started our last day in San Antonio back at the River Walk. Sunday mornings are definitely the time to go ... there were no crowds and the weather was beautiful. A local told us about a bakery/breakfast place that was a great recommendation. I bought a bag full of pastries and Mexican candies there.



We made it back to the resort around noon and spent the entire day around the pool/lazy river. The weather was warm but the water was still very cold. Jack had a great time playing in the sand with the other kids and when we got too hot we would just grab a tube and go for a spin in the lazy river. Chris enjoyed the R&R and margaritas.



I wish I was still there ... we didn't want to leave today.

We started the am off when a great breakfast at the resort and then off to the San Antonio zoo.

Funny story: As we entered the zoo ... Jack kept asking about the "amigos"... Chris and I thought that he was describing the other visitors there but we later realized he was actually talking about the Flamingos.

Jack loved the zoo and the train. However, I must admit that the Tyler zoo is just as good. I've attached a short movie of Jack petting the goats. We'll have to ask JoJo for a pet goat for the farm.

The weather turned cloudy and cool in the afternoon so we just relaxed around the resort. Jack found the gameroom and thought he had gone to Chuck E Cheese again. We drove around later that evening just to get out and about and then returned to the resort to eat.

The resort is filled with families and so the dinning room was seated with families with 3 yr olds throwing temper tantrums and babies crying. However no one seemed annoyed by all the commotion b/c we had all "been there". After dinner we joined other hotel patrons at a bon-fire on the grounds for s'mores. This place is like something you see only in the movies. It was surreal and tranquil. There were all these families with kids dressed in cute little outfits gathering around the fire while the staff helped with the s'more making. After that all the kids were playing on the playground under the full moon while parents were lounging in the grass with glasses of wine. Life is really good here.

Vacation Day 1

Life is good on vacation and we've had terriffic weather.

We left Shreveport on Thursday about 3pm and made it to the Hampton Inn at San Marcos around 9pm. Jack was excited about spending the night in a hotel and thought that the Hampton Inn was our final destination. He had a blast jumping in the bed and running around in the lobby.

We woke up on Friday am and went to the outlet stores in San Marcos. There were plenty of great shops. Chris is lucky that I can only wear maternity clothes and that ruled out about 90% of the potential shopping bill.

We left the stores around lunch and went just a little ways down I-35 to Gruene, TX. This has been my favorite part of the trip so far. The small, quaint town had lots of character .... if I could have shared a few drinks with Chris there I think we would've spent more time in Gruene. We had lunch at the historic Gristmill. The restaurant had several outdoor seating areas and we were able to grab a table outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. After lunch Jack and I roamed the grounds (with beautiful landscaping) while Dad enjoyed a beer in historic Gruene Hall. Robert Earl Keene is playing there at a festival on Sunday .... I'm trying to talk Chris into going back to see the concert.

After our pleasant afternoon in Greune we jumped in the car and went to the resort to check-in. The Hyatt Hill Country resort is the "Four Seasons" for families. The grounds are beautiful and this place is huge!! We walked around and found the park, spa and tire swing. After seeing that kids were in the pool ... Jack insisted to go put his swimsuit on and get in too. The water was chilly. But wow what a pool!! It is huge and made to match the natural surroundings. Jack had a blast tubing down the lazy river and going thru the waterfalls. He has no fear of the water ... which is very scary!!

We later got dressed and went down to the River Walk for dinner. This has been the worst part of the trip so far. The River Walk was packed full of people and was very dirty. We were all tired and so we opted to just head back to the hotel and grab a bite on the way back. I think that we'll try going back down there on Sunday when the crowd may be thinner.

Jack enjoyed running up & down JoJo's corn rows. I thought we might lose him b/c he blended right in with the green corn.

And if the corn starts to turn yellow ... we know what happened.

Great Mother's Day Weekend

It's A Girl !!

We're shocked ... it was confirmed in an ultrasound today that it's a she. Chris and I both had thought this hold time it was going to be a boy.

Everything looks great. All the prenatal tests have come back good so far and the arrival date is still set to be sometime around Sept 25th.
